-OUR PHILOSOPHY-
Kiddies' Korner Nursery School, Inc. was organized to provide a structured setting for our children to be able to LEARN BY DOING. With today's emphasis upon learning, sometimes parents and teachers forget how little children really learn. As a result, preschool children are often "told about" something rather than enjoying real life experiences through their own explorations.
Our nursery school will not be a miniature first grade filled with abstract formal learning. Instead, we wish to provide daily opportunities for concrete hands-on experiences which in turn help children to acquire new understanding. This means that children will be encouraged to experience whatever their development suggests is appropriate as long as this learning is achieved in a way that is comfortable and natural for them.
Those adults who favor "structure" often perceive this as formal lessons, regimented, silent children, with everyone doing the same thing at the same time. Structure, in reality, is a well planned environment, changed frequently, with sufficient variation and stimulation to help each child move from his or her level of learning to the next higher level. This can be accomplished through what many people call "play".

-OUR PROGRAM-
Our program is based on meeting the needs of each individual child with structure and flexibility. We do this through individualized instruction, learning centers and small and large play groups. Health, hygiene and manners shall be emphasized daily. We will pay particular attention to readiness skills, language, social and physical development, as well as cognitive learning.
Parents may be actively involved in our program; they can volunteer, help on field trips and visit the classroom in a non-parental role. We would also like the community involved in anyway we can.
The most important aspect is that we wish to provide a structured atmosphere for the children to learn through real life experience in a way that makes them comfortable. Although this may look like play; Eric Erikson, a well known authority on child development and education, once said, "Play is serious business".

-POLICIES AND PROCEDURES-
Registration: Pre-registration is held near the middle of the school year. This non-refundable deposit secures your child's space for the upcoming year. Final registration is held prior to the beginning of the new school year. You may wait until this time to register, but availability may be limited.
Absence Due To Illness: If your child has an illness in which they must be absent for one month of school (or a four week period), you must contact the teacher and the Treasurer. One month's tuition will be credited if a doctor's excuse is presented. Any absence under a month will not be refunded: please do not deduct sick days from your tuition. If you choose to withdraw due to illness and then later choose to re-enroll, a registration fee may be charged.
Absence Due To Other Reasons: If a family illness or death occurs that affects your child's attendance or payment of tuition, please contact the Board of Directors. We will work with you and your child if we are notified promptly. All such board business is confidential.
Withdrawal: If you withdraw your child for any reason, please advise the Treasurer immediately so that another child can be enrolled in their place. If there is space available, you may choose to re-enroll. At this time, the registration fee would apply.
Snow Days: If your child misses more than one day due to the cancellation of classes, the tuition will be adjusted accordingly. A notice would be sent home if this situation occurs.
